Games Invade New York

Posted on 14 April 2010 by Foster

If you haven’t seen this yet, you clearly don’t visit any other website but this one.

Thanks!

Anyway, the video shows what would happen if some classic games invaded what is apparently -the- city to invade, New York.  It is pretty amazing, if you ask me.  Check it out after the jump.

Resident Evil: Afterlife Trailer

Posted on 05 April 2010 by Foster

I know that I talked about not needing more zombie games, however I never said a word about not needing more Milla Jovovich.

Check the trailer after the jump!

Metroid Other M Trailer!

Posted on 31 March 2010 by Foster

I’ve loved the Metroid franchise ever since Nintendo Power ran a Super Metroid serial comic in their magazine, so this look at Team Ninja’s newest take on the classic license is definitely something that makes my heart feel kind of funny.

Though I’m not sure what’s up with that fetus thing.

P.S.  If you remember that Super Metroid comic, congratulations on being old.

“Still Alive” Sung by a Children’s Choir

Posted on 29 March 2010 by Foster

In an effort to prove my belief that the only good thing about having children is making them do things that entertain you, some choir teacher taught a bunch of kids to perform the ending song from Portal.

It’s pretty decently arranged, but I really want to know what the non-nerd parents thought of the whole thing; as I remember it doesn’t really end on a positive note.

Check out the video after the jump.

RPG Heroes are Jerks

Posted on 24 March 2010 by Foster

This video is making the rounds and doesn’t necessarily tread new ground, but it’s still pretty great.  Basically, it’s another tilt on something that I’ve always wondered about – why exactly is it required of an RPG hero to break everyone’s stuff and steal all of their personal belongings?

Lego Harry Potter Trailer

Posted on 19 March 2010 by Foster

Traveler’s Tales has released a quick look at their upcoming Lego Harry Potter, and I have to say that the quirky charm of these Lego games has even made me think it could be possible to enjoy something that has to do with Harry Potter.  However, I’m not sure it’s possible for me to enjoy another Lego something game, since they’re all essentially the same game with different themes.

Justice is Served: Final Fantasy XIII Freezing on PS3

Posted on 16 March 2010 by Foster

Where’s your fanboy pride now!?  It would appear that all of those people out there that spent the last week or so flooding forums with side-by-side comparisons of minute cinematic differences and generally acting like shitbags because a publisher decided to make a little bit of cash by releasing a game for (gasp!) more than one system are getting what they deserve:  reports are rolling in that the PS3 version of Final Fantasy XIII might have some issues of its own.

From Kotaku:

“In the West, role-playing game Final Fantasy XIII is a multi-platform game, getting a release on the Xbox 360 and the PS3. While the PS3 version might look better, individuals are claiming that there are freezing issues.

“For me it happens in the exact same spot (1st level, right after 3rd group of enemies, while jumping over 2nd pile of rubble) on multiple copies of the game,” writes Kotaku reader Evan. “When it freezes, I can still go to the menu/map/xmb, but I cannot move in the game. Also when it happens, it starts making loud noises (explosions and yelling) at 3 times the volume it had previously been. The sounds will continue if I leave and go to the menu (not the xmb.)”

There’s no real official response on this and no one has any idea how widespread the issue might be, but we’ll keep you posted as details roll in.  In the meantime, check out the video after the jump and decide for yourself.

On Fire: NBA Jam Trailer

Posted on 15 March 2010 by Foster

There are two things I remember about NBA Jam for the Super Nintendo:  the first is that I was very bad at it, and the second is the ridiculous voiceover work.  While I’m excited to see the second part return and I hope for a change to the first, I can’t help but notice that the game looks relatively unimpressive for a next-gen title – I don’t see much progress from the 16-bit era in this trailer.  Then again, I suppose it is a Wii exclusive.

Hit the jump and see for yourself.

Medal of Honor Trailer

Posted on 14 March 2010 by Foster

With Medal of Honor developer EA hoping for a successful reboot of the series a la Modern Warfare, it’s no surprise that their trailer focuses on ultra-realistic violence and over the top action sequences.

I’m sort of curious to see where our threshold for these types of game lies; I feel like we have enough war to go around right now and I can’t imagine gamers will want to keep reliving the same environments and tactics.  At some point, I imagine we’ll have to go back to killing Nazis.

Trailer after the jump, but I think you’ll agree with me when I say we’ve seen this game before.
